| Built in 1881,
and once owned for a short period by "Big Nose Kate" herself, with one
purpose, a house of ill fame and still standing today as a testament to
its builders and past owners our home is a Victorian picture set in a
western town tombstone "the town to tough to die", still holding its charm
of yesteryear and having its very own spirits of its past inhabitants. the Bordello was in fact built on a site at the east end of Allen Street, but as it was on the site of the new Tombstone school and grounds it was moved to its present location at the west end of Allen street at the corner of Allen and Haskell in 1923 to become in 1973 the home of a local judge and his wife who lovingly restored the house and added some of the then modern updates (electric and stuff) since then it has changed hands a few times and is now and has been for some time a bed and breakfast. Lynda an I have purchased this wonderful old building and wishing to keep it as it is, have with a lot of work from a local contractor built a house over the top of it, the only parts showing are the two gable ends, so now as long as our new addition stands the old Bordello will be protected by holding back the ravages of time for quite a few years to come, we have made the new parts of the building both inside and out as close as you can come to being built in 1881 without loosing the present day refinements, we for the most part dress period if you would like too its up to you, but is that not why you came here to "Live the Western Dream" |
